Best Neighborhoods for SpaceX Employees Near Bastrop
With SpaceX continuing to grow in Bastrop County, a lot of employees are trying to figure out where to live. The good news is there are solid options whether you want luxury, value, newer neighborhoods, or something with a little more space and trees around you.
Here are a few of the top areas I’ve been recommending lately:
Luxury Option – The Colony
If you want to be as close to SpaceX as possible and budget isn’t the biggest concern, The Colony is probably the top pick.
Most homes are in the $700k to $1M+ range, and you’re getting newer construction, larger homes, great amenities, and one of the best locations for commuting to SpaceX.
It’s definitely one of the more established master planned communities in the area and tends to attract buyers looking for something long term.
Best Budget Option – Valverde
If affordability is the priority, Valverde has been one of the best values around.
Homes are starting around the mid $200s, which is getting harder and harder to find anywhere near Austin or Bastrop these days. A lot of the builders are also offering aggressive financing incentives that can make monthly payments way more manageable.
For first-time buyers or employees relocating and wanting to keep costs lower, it’s hard to ignore the deals out there right now.
Best Mid-Range Option – The New Colony
The newer sections of The Colony hit a really nice middle ground.
You’ve got homes ranging from the $300s into the $600s, around 10 different builders, and 4 separate amenity centers, so buyers have a ton of flexibility depending on style and budget.
One thing people like is that it doesn’t feel cookie cutter because the builder variety gives neighborhoods a little more character compared to some master planned communities.
Best Rural Feel – Tahitian Village
If you’re looking for something that feels less suburban and a little more “Texas,” Tahitian Village is worth a serious look.
Most lots are at least a quarter acre, you’re surrounded by pine trees, and parts of the neighborhood are close to the river. It has a very different feel from the newer master planned developments.
Another cool thing is the variety. There are 60+ different spec builders in the area, so you see everything from modern designs to hill-country style homes instead of the same few floorplans repeated over and over.
Most newer homes are landing somewhere in the high $300s to mid $400s.
Final Thoughts
There’s honestly no single “best” neighborhood for SpaceX employees right now — it really depends on what matters most to you.
- Want the closest luxury option? The Colony.
- Trying to keep payments lower? Valverde.
- Want newer amenities and flexibility? The New Colony.
- Prefer space, trees, and a more rural vibe? Tahitian Village.
The Bastrop area is changing fast, and a lot of these neighborhoods are growing quickly as more SpaceX employees move into the area. Getting in earlier rather than later probably isn’t a bad idea.
